The Meyer Suite

The Meyer Suite is the perfect way to experience the Amish Country. Decorated in Amish décor, the suite provides farmland views where horse and buggies can be seen trotting by.

Why the Meyer Suite?

This suite is named after Elias and Peter Meyer. Elias first purchased the land of the Hertzog Homestead in 1738, the founder of Pennsylvania from the sons of William Penn. He built a grain mill and a house down by the Conestoga River, the house which can still be seen along North Farmersville Road. In 1760, he deeded the Northern part of his land to his son Peter, who build the Sweitzer Barn on the homestead in the mid-1760s and also built the largest part of the house in the late 1760s, where the Historic Metzler Suite is located.

“This is an absolute oasis… From the moment we arrived we were treated to a relaxing, fun experience. The suite was a nice relaxing space with plenty of charm. The fresh prepared breakfast and Keurig were wonderful to have waking up at our open pace. Book a visit with the family and you will not be disappointed.”

This was our first visit to the HH B&B. It’s truly the best of both worlds- a beautiful, serene setting in the countryside, yet just minutes from everything that Lancaster Co. has to offer. We stayed in the Meyer Suite, which was lovely and stocked with all the amenities you could need- even a white noise machine. The in-suite breakfasts were phenomenal and SO plentiful- home baked breads and muffins, a savory quiche, homemade yogurt, fruit, juice, and other delicious treats. Thank you, Hertzogs, for a delightful getaway. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

We received a weekend getaway at The Hertzog Homestead as a gift for Christmas and it truly was a wonderful gift! The suite we stayed in had everything we needed and the private dining and delicious homemade breakfast foods made for an even more enjoyable stay! The scenery was beautiful and eating breakfast on Sunday morning, while watching the local families going to Church on foot or bikes or in horse and buggies was the highlight for us! We would highly recommend this place for your next getaway!

We happened to find this B&B while searching online for a place in Lancaster County for a R&R getaway. We loved it! We headed up this way early as it had begun snowing that am. By the time we reached the area road conditions were deteriorating so we stopped by the inn to see if there was any chance we could check in early. While we were quite early Kristen was so understanding and accommodating putting us into another room that was ready so we could come in from the storm. We stayed in the Meyer Suite and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The rooms are clean with lovely decorating touches and all the comforts of home. With a little kitchen with microwave, Keurig and fridge stocked with juice water soda and fruit. This B &B has a very unique feature…private breakfast. An Amish breakfast casserole prepared by Elva along with homemade yogurt, and baked goods each day placed in your room for the next morning. This allowed us to have a relaxing breakfast at whatever time we chose. The bed was so comfortable, with a lovely Amish quilt. We had problems with the heat at first and Scott came over in the snow to get it working for us! A great location in the beautiful countryside of Lancaster County made for a perfect retreat ! We will definitely return!

A wonderful experience as usual. Hertzog’s is located in a beautiful, peaceful, serene setting. We stayed in the Meyer Suite which looks out over the Hertzog Home and scenic views toward the road where you often are greeted by the calming sound of an Amish buggy going on its way. The room is very spacious and clean with every amenity you could possibly want. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom has various offerings to suit your every need. The kitchenette is just fun with its refrig, microwave, Keurig coffeemaker and spacious sink. The breakfast is superb and of gourmet quality. We experienced a different quiche every day, all extremely delicious. Various pastries, juices and yogurt complete the awesome in-your-room eating experience. Scott and Kirsten are wonderful hosts, cheerfully answering any questions you may have. This B & B has it all, and we will never look for another one. Thank you Kirsten and Scott!

Lovely wife and I completed our second visit last week and this two-night visit to the Hertzog Homestead was even better than our first. The check-in process was new and improved. Linda checked us in and offered us an unexpected glass of wine. Lovely wife enjoyed her wine while Linda took us to our room, The Meyer Suite. She gave us instructions and tips as we settled in. The room was large and cozy and well furnished. While I wish the TV were larger (it can never be too large!), the cable selection was very good and the remote was not complicated. Breakfast the next morning was a treat: delicious individual egg casseroles, pies, muffins, fresh yogurt, apples, juice, and sweet breads. And the next day selections were different except for the flavor of yogurt. During the day, lots of complimentary soft drinks were provided in the mini-fridge and we even found a Hersey Kiss on the nightstand. Our first night dinner was in Ephrata at the Old Lincoln House. We took Scott’s advice from his video blog and had a terrific meal. Tired from our adventures on Day 2, our second evening meal was very filling takeout from the Two Cousins Italian Restaurant which is a 5-minute drive from the Homestead. Our hosts were charming and affable and Kristen was very helpful on some genealogical questions. Her son was a real delight as he gave us an early evening tour of the Hen House and I took a most memorable photo of my wife holding a chicken. Checkout was a breeze, simply dropping our key in the provided box. Leaving our assigned parking spot, we waved to Kristen as we drove away, vowing to return again.

I would recommend Hertzog Homestead to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in a serene location with beautiful country views. The staff was friendly and helpful upon arrival, the room was exceptionally clean and cozy, and the breakfast was simply delightful! I also recommend a massage at the on-site spa cottage!
