Stay Small, Stay Safe at Hertzog Homestead

How we are caring for you as Pennsylvania reopens

We pride ourselves in our cleaning and hygiene practices and specialized in social distancing before there was a name for it! For your safety and convenience, we’ve implemented additional operational procedures to ensure everyone’s health and well-being during your stay.

Contactless Breakfast:

For those staying one night, your self-served Amish-made breakfast will already be placed in your suite or cottage before you check-in.

For those staying additional nights, we ask that you place all dirty dishes, service items, and unwanted food, etc. into the plastic, closable tub and place it outside your door by 11 AM, if possible. Breakfast on days after the first day will be delivered a plastic tub and placed in your suite, if you are not available or for pick up at your door. Generally, this will be between 2 and 4 PM.

Housekeeping:

In an effort ensure greater social distancing during this time, our house keeping staff won’t enter your room during your stay for daily refreshing. We offer partial service, including a basket of cleaning supplies already located in your suite for your refreshing. Should you require additional amenities or towels, please text Kristen at: 717.201.4893.

We are pleased to offer Contactless Check-in and Key Drop Check-out. When you arrive on property, simply follow the signs to the Check-in Office and Express Check-in box, and there you will find a welcome letter with your name on it, the key to your suite, and detailed instructions for breakfast in the morning. A Naturally “Socially-Distanced” Setting

Hertzog Homestead boasts 23 acres of private grounds with plenty of “spreading-out” space, including:

  • Sitting areas on on porches, patios, picnic tables, and by the hen hotel.
  • ¼-mile nature trail through our new wild flower field and woods.
  • Plenty of grassy lawns and waterways to stroll along.
  • Rentable bikes to ride the roads and hills of the local countryside.
  • A 2 mile loop around the block, passing two Mennonite churches, an Amish one-room schoolhouse, the Conestoga River, and Amish and Mennonite farms.
