The Top Lancaster County Smorgasbords
Welcome to Smorgasbord country. In this episode, we talk about my wife’s encounter with Dutch Goose, the origin of the word Smorgasbord, the top four smorgasbords in Lancaster County, and what are our favorites and why.
This show is sponsored by the Hertzog Homestead LLC and by Performance Coach Kristen Hertzog.
One of the reasons that people come to Lancaster County is for the food, the variety of Amish and PA Dutch cooking available here. It’s one of the only places that you can get good Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. Many restaurants in the area serve food like this, and there are quite a plethora of options, many of which I hope to explore in future episodes of this show. But today we’re going to be talking about the PA Dutch smorgasbords.
There are four main contenders we talk about Pennsylvania Dutch smorgasbords in Lancaster County. They are as follows: Shady Maple Smorgasbord, Millers Smorgasbord, Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord, and Hershey Farm, Restaurant & Inn. We look at what each of these smorgasbords has to offer; we talked about the comparative cost, the quality of food, the variety of food, the atmosphere, and what are our top choices for a romantic dinner date versus a more kid-friendly atmosphere.
